Vada Counseling is a queer-owned group mental health practice that provides affirming, empowering, and accessible mental health care to LGBTQ+ Texans and their families. Our clients represent diverse cultures, identities, and abilities and deserve therapists who will affirm their experiences and support them without judgment. We’re looking for a queer-identified, social justice-oriented therapist with experience working with queer individuals.

ABOUT YOU
Qualified candidates will
Align with our values, including the necessity of gender-affirming care
Be licensed to practice therapy in Texas (LPC, LCSW, LMFT; provisional licensees under supervision may also be considered)
Identify as queer/part of the LGBTQ+ community
Have experience providing trauma-competent, LGBTQ+ affirming care
Use a theoretical approach that incorporates trauma-informed, person-centered, intersectional, culturally responsive therapy through a social justice lens
Understand the impact, both current and historical, of systemic oppression on the mental health of individuals, communities, and cultures
Ideal candidates may
Have prior experience teaching, providing school- or university-based therapy, or facilitating groups
Enjoy working with children, adolescents, and/or teens
Be multilingual (inclusive of all languages, including American Sign Language)
Have lived experience as part of the Global majority
ABOUT THE JOB
Duties + Responsibilities
Provide safe, supportive individual, couples, family, and/or group therapy to LGBTQ+ individuals and their families, including chosen family
Maintain an average of at least 30 direct client hours per month (that’s 7.5 per week)
Advocate for and with clients in various settings, including legal, educational, and medical environments as necessary
Complete progress notes and other paperwork in a timely manner
Respond to client appointment requests within 24 hours
Collaborate with clients’ treatment team as necessary
Make appropriate referrals to community resources
