Sexuality

let’s talk about sex honestly

Sexuality is personal, relational, political, and shaped by culture, trauma, joy, shame, and power. At Vada Counseling, we believe therapy should be a place where you can talk honestly about sex and desire without being pathologized, judged, or pushed toward someone else’s idea of what’s “normal.”

Our therapists work with individuals, partners, and relationships around a wide range of sex-related concerns, including queer sexuality, desire differences, shame, sexual anxiety, compulsivity, pain during sex, masturbation, safer sex, boundaries and consent, sexual trauma, and the impact of religion, culture, racism, ableism, fatphobia, and heteronormativity on sexual expression. Whatever

Our therapists are sex-positive, trauma-informed, and poly-affirming. We know there are many ways to be sexual, and we can help you clarify what feels authentic, safe, and aligned for you. In session, we may work on:

  • Talking openly about sex, pleasure, desire, and intimacy

  • Understanding consent and boundaries

  • Exploring kink, ethical non-monogamy, and diverse relationship structures

  • Healing from sexual trauma and reclaiming your own sexuality

  • Navigating sexual shame and anxiety, particularly when it’s rooted in religion, culture, or family

sex is political (and personal)

Sexuality does not exist in a vacuum.

We approach this work with an explicit awareness of power, oppression, and systemic harm, especially as they impact queer and trans people, people of color, disabled folks, and those whose bodies and desires are often stigmatized. Your experiences make sense in context and you deserve therapy that recognizes that.

Wherever you are, you’re welcome here

Many clients come to us carrying years of silence, confusion, or shame around sexuality. Others are exploring desire, identity, or relationships for the first time, or doing so after change, loss, or transition. Wherever you are, therapy can be a space to slow down, get curious, and build a better relationship with your body, boundaries, and needs.

If you’re looking for therapy that treats sexuality with honesty, respect, and nuance, schedule a consultation with us today.

There’s no one right way to do it
